COMPANY PROFILE
L’Altravista was founded by a group of female authors, screen players, photographers, researchers, producers, cultural promoters and directors with a background in the audiovisual communication market: TV, documentaries, cinema and visual arts. L’Altravista is made up of a number of professional experts belonging to different generations co-operating and exchanging their knowledge and experience. Focusing on the visual aspects of ‘memory’ from a contemporary point of view, l’Altravista creates and produces biographical and historical documentaries. The company also organises and produces cultural events ranging from art and multimedia exhibitions to film festivals.
DOCUMENTARIES
“The Island of Roses” (52’)
The film echoes between private histories and the march of history in ITALIAN DODECANESE (1912-1943), celebrated as a glamorous paradise by Fascist propaganda films. In 1938 the anti-Jewish laws were introduced. Back in Rhodes, where she was born in 1938 from an Italian catholic soldier and a Rhodian Jewess, the film maker’s mother reads to her daughter her father's diaries and recalls her parent's love, her father's opposition to the Nazi occupation during WWII and his deportation, the death of her mother's family in Auschwitz. In Brussels with their cousins of Rhodian origins, the two women celebrate Passover, symbol of universal freedom

Documentary on the abduction of Giuliana Sgrena.

“Me Primo Carnera”(52’)
Film-documentary produced in co-operation with Cineteca del Friuli and Fox International Channels, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the famous boxer. With inspiration from Primo Carnera’s diaries and letters, recently discovered by his offspring, the film tells the story of his life through his own words

“Pontecorvo Affair” (52’)
A Film-documentary on the mysterious escape to Russia, in the 50’s, by Bruno Pontecorvo, an Italian scientist who worked with Enrico Fermi on the discovery of nuclear fission.
